Personal Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella InsurancePersonal Umbrella Insurance

You’ve worked hard to earn your lifestyle. Consider adding additional liability protection to your Auto, Home, Renters or Condo policy. Personal Umbrella Liability coverage added to your other policies can protect you, your spouse and any relatives living in your home.

Umbrella Insurance Protection

Umbrella Insurance provides extra protection or limits above the liability insurance you currently have. Just as an umbrella protects you from heavy rain, an umbrella insurance policy protects you from losing the entirety of your wealth and assets in the event of a claim. Umbrella insurance can provide limits above your business insurance, personal auto and home policies.

Umbrella insurance provides broad insurance beyond traditional insurance. It provides additional liability coverage above the limits of your primary insurance policies. It can also provide coverage for claims that may be excluded by the primary policies

It is true that personal umbrella insurance may not be for business or individual, but if you are a business, wanting to protect your company’s resources, building financial resources for your future, are a professional, own your home, boat or recreation vehicle, you should consider an umbrella insurance policy.  Having the added protection of an umbrella insurance policy is coverage no one should go without. Call us today, for a free review.

High Net Worth Individuals

Do you own a boat, second home or have other expensive toys? Often high net worth individuals need higher liability limits to protect personal assets. A simple rule is, the more you own the greater risk you may have of losing it. The nice thing about an umbrella policy is that it is competitively priced and can bring you great piece of mind.

I Just Got a Ticket…Will My Auto Rates Go UP?

car-1531277_640 (1)Have you recently had the bad luck of receiving a speeding citation? A ticket for speeding or other moving violation may increase your auto premiums. Some of this depends on the timing of your ticket and your renewal date. If you have had several traffic violations in a three year period, your carrier may decide to drop you. We will always search the market for the best alternative for all our clients.

Your auto insurance rates are determined based on how risky the insurance company considers you to be. Insurance carriers will have different methods for calculating risk, and thus different methods for determining rates.

Violations that relate to unsafe driving that will cause your premiums to increase include:

  • Drunk driving
  • Texting while driving
  • Failure to stop or yield right of way
  • Speeding
  • Reckless driving
  • Failure to stop at a light
  • Speeding in a construction zone

One leading industry research company studied 500,000 drivers and found that auto premiums went up by 20% after one of the violations listed above. Remember these are national averages and your individual circumstance will apply to what the carrier may or may not do.

Driving safely may be enough for you to avoid any spikes in your premiums. Of course, if your rates go up, they can also go down. By being a safe driver, you may see the price you pay for auto insurance decrease over the years.

Lower Your Commercial Auto Expenses

background-1566507_640A commercial auto insurance review

If your business owns any vehicles, you know the costs associated with them have increased over the past few years.  We are not just talking about the increase in commercial auto insurance.  Many other operating costs have increased including general maintenance, repairs, and fuel.  There are some practical things a business owner can do to help reduce commercial auto expenses.

Business auto insurance

Make sure you train all drivers on the latest safe driving techniques.  In addition, have our agency market your insurance to find the best possible combination of coverage, price, and service.

Service repairs

It is a good idea to shop around for a service repair shop that can provide competitive pricing, but is also responsible.  Cheap repairs do not help if the vehicle ends up back in the shop or the shop does not meet repair deadlines.

Consider the vehicle before you buy

Some vehicles are more costly to repair.  Additionally, technology in newer vehicles is more costly to repair.  For that reason, one of our clients opts to purchase three to five year old vehicles, to save on repair costs.

Safety

Use module deceives in your commercial vehicle that can monitor driver performance. Provide feedback to drivers and create a reward system for better and safer drivers.

Driver’s health

Studies show that 94 percent of accidents are caused by driver factors.  With this in mind, Travelers Insurance Co. advises employers to consider a driver’s health and wellness when they are on the road.  Training drivers about proper rest and the risks of driving while fatigued will remind drivers not to push on when they are fatigued.

How Technology Can Help Reduce Florida Auto Insurance Premiums

free444In the good old days, people used to pay less for their Florida auto insurance if they drove less. While that may still be partially true, in today’s world, there are many more ways to help you save on your auto insurance.  Today’s autos come equipped with a great deal of technology to help you be a safe driver, and this technology can also help reduce your auto insurance premiums.

When you consider an auto purchase, think about how technology can reduce auto insurance costs. These technologies include:

  1. Crash avoidance systems.
  2. Automatic braking systems.
  3. Backup cameras.
  4. Adaptive Headlights. These are equipped with sensors that recognize when you make a movement with the steering wheel to go around a curve.
  5. Blind side warning lights.
  6. Lane departure warning systems.
  7. Day time running lights.
  8. Electronic stability control. This is a technology feature that helps prevent sideways skidding, spin-outs and loss of control through a system of sensors and a microcomputer.
  9. Hands-free technology to allow you to make adjustments by voice command.
  10. Usage devices that monitor driving. This is a great tool that allows the insurer to monitor your driving, and if you drive safely you get discounts.
  11. Side airbags. In 2009, about one-fourth of passenger vehicle deaths in the United States were caused by side-impact crashes, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Side airbags have reduced that number significantly.

As more studies are conducted, insurance companies might begin to offer lower premiums based on the different auto technologies their policyholders use. Amberg Insurance Center, Inc. was established in 1974 to serve the growing insurance needs of the many businesses and individuals located in the Charlotte and surrounding counties. 1. Your deductibles are too low. The lower the deductible the higher the premium. Consider increase auto physical damage deductible on older vehicles.
  2. You have more than one agent. Having two agents it not wise. Select one agent whom you believe will be best for you. Two agents can trip over each other, and you could end up un-insured.
  3. You don’t consider the insurance cost when buying a car. The make and model of the car you purchase will have an impact on the insurance costs.
  4. Your replacement cost value is not correct. It is very important to keep your replacement cost up to date. Replacement cost coverage will replace or rebuild your property with like kind and quality of materials.
  5. Failure to develop a property inventory. Having an accurate inventory of your personal property can reduce stress at the time of a loss and help insure you receive 100% of what you lost.
  6. You have coverage you do not need. There are many different types of insurance you can buy but not all are needed. For example, travel insurance, pet insurance, extended warranties and mortgage life insurance is not always needed. We have other options and recommendations, call us today.
  7. Cancer insurance. Marketed by specialty-insurance companies, these plans supplement health insurance for cancer-care costs. Annual premiums range between $400 to $2,000 dollars. Florida Car Thieves Can Be Stopped!

A burglar in action to rob something out of a car

How important it is to have the correct Florida auto insurance?  Well, read the following statistics.   A vehicle is stolen every 55 seconds in the United States. According to the National Highway Safety Administration, over 80% of all comprehensive claims involve auto theft.  Only about 60% of stolen vehicles are recovered. 40-50% of vehicle theft is due to driver error. The top two months for vehicle thefts are July and August. Half of the insurance companies who offer auto insurance offer discounts for alarms or anti-theft devices.

Insuring your auto with the right coverage is important. We understand that it is important to find the right combination of coverage, price and service.

How to reduce the chances of an auto theft:

  • Take your keys with you. Don’t leave them in or on your vehicle.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
  • Don’t assume no one would want to steal your car.
  • Park in well lit areas or in a garage, if possible.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle, and especially in sight.
  • Consider investing in extra security.

The best way to prevent the theft of belongings from your auto is to always keep valuables in your trunk or with you  Never leave cell phones, briefcases, suitcases, or small electronic devices (smart phones, tablets, GPS, etc.) in your car in plain view. During the holiday season especially, or any time you’re shopping, place packages in the trunk, not on the passenger seats or floors. Always keep windows all the way up. And never leave your pet or child in a vehicle unattended.
